Over the years, my personal sense of style went on a rapid decline as I gained weight. I used to love going shopping, picking out nice-looking clothes and feeling good in them, but as the scale went up, I started to feel uncomfortable in everything and just stuck with the basics.
I didn’t bother dressing for my size or what flattered me, I’d wear the same style of skinny jeans and over-sized rock band t-shirts – in fact, that’s a lot of what I still wear when I am out running errands or out for the day. This summer, I wanted to make it more of a personal goal to stop wearing the frumpy shorts and baggy shirts – I wanted to look cute and casual, but still put together. I stocked up on some bright colored tank tops and terry-clothed shorts and have been wearing those for most of the season. It’s nice to wear something that’s more flattering to my figure and not so frumpy!
A couple of weeks ago, I got an email from Rocksbox asking if I wanted to try the Rocksbox jewelry subscription and I was really excited to accept. I’ve never done a monthly subscription box and to be honest, there are so many out there that trying to find a good one is a little overwhelming. I love jewelry, especially fun statement pieces I can wear with my simple wardrobe. I find most of my jewelry at Forever XXI or Old Navy and find unique pieces that are a little edgy or eye-catching since my outfit is often pretty basic.
So, I went ahead and filled out a questionnaire on Rocksbox – it had me pick a variety of pieces I liked to give an idea of personal preferences that way a stylist could create a box custom designed for my tastes. Aside from possibly getting some jewelry that I knew would be perfect for me, I also love the idea of a monthly subscription box to perhaps step outside the norm of what I usually choose – it’s a great way to try something and if I don’t like it – then hey! – I can send it back without making an investment.
It took a little over a week to get my first box and it was a fun surprise to get in the mail! It came with three pieces – a bracelet, earrings and necklace – as well as a personalized note.
This is the box my jewelry came in — so pretty and I’m ready to see what’s inside!
Here’s how the Rocksbox Jewelry Subscription works:
1. Once you get your customized selection, you can wear it as much as you want.
2. Want a new selection during the month? Use the prepaid return label to send the box back and get a new selection of jewelry. There are unlimited swaps each month, which makes it even cooler of a subscription. Check out the website to add pieces to your wishlist!
3. If you love any piece that comes in the monthly subscription box, buy it! All you have to do is keep it and the credit card on file will be charged when you return the box without that item. As a Rocksbox Insider, you can get your pieces at a discounted rate.
